Welcome!

Welcome to this summer's blog! I am thrilled to share with you that I have accepted a summer internship with Compassion International in Colorado Springs. Compassion had been my dream organization for a long time. I love their ministry and the way that they involve the local church and the family to provide for sponsor kids physically, emotionally, and spiritually. My family has sponsored Compassion children for as long as I can remember and I have had my own child since I was a freshman in high school. I am so excited to be able to work with Compassion this summer and I'm hoping this could turn into a full-time position at the end of the summer!

The summer starts with a 5-day vision/mission trip to Guatemala to see in person the work that we will be supporting behind-the-scenes. I will be in Guatemala from May 25th - 30th. The rest of the summer until August 8th I will be working with Compassion's communications team, Creative Blue, as a Graphic Design intern.

The majority of this internship is paid, however for the Guatemala portion of the trip, I need to raise $1,950. I'm looking for supporters who will come alongside me in this venture financially and with prayer. Both of these are crucial.

I'd like to share some of the work I've done in the past for Wycliffe Bible Translators, GET Global, YWAM Harpenden and New Life Ranch so you see the type of work that I am passionate about. My goal with all of my work is to share the story of the work God is doing in the world.

Enjoy!

The following photos are pictures that I took as part of my photography internship with Wycliffe Bible Translators when I was in Guatemala for two weeks during the summer of 2012.

Here are a few screenshots of how my work has been used since that summer.

This photo of the woman smiling was an integral part of Wycliffe's "First Words" Campaign during the summer. As you can see, it was featured on their home page and several other pages of their main website. It was also published in a newsletter that was distributed to 47,000 people.

Before I went to Guatemala, I took pictures of products for the gift shop in Wycliffe's visitor's center in Orlando. About half of the photos on the gift shop website were ones that I took. I also took tons of photos of artifacts from all over the world for cataloguing purposes.

This photo was used in a video produced during Christmas. Below is a screen shot from that video. This photo was also published on the front cover of Wycliffe UK's Magazine and was distributed to 20,000 people.

Every once in a while I see one of my photos pop up on Wycliffe's Facebook page. The photo below was a picture I took of the Sunday market in a village we stayed in for several days.

The photo that says "Finish Line" contains another photo that I took (the one of the little girl in the tan sweater at the bottom).

Here are some samples of the work that I did for GET Global (the short-term division of Wycliffe) as part of my graphic design internship last summer. Much of this work will be implemented summer 2014.
Above is the logo I designed.

This is a one of the Letterhead options.
Below are several sample pages from the Student Field Manual.

Below are some poster options.

 The following are Powerpoint templates.

While working for YWAM Haprneden last summer we took lots of stock photography for them including of one of their ship that was docked in Liverpool. Here are my two favorite shots from that trip:

For my senior photography project I chose to do a social documentary project on the woman who started a ministry I've been involved with at JBU for the past four years. This ministry partners at-risk children with a mentor. For several hours each week the kids learn horsemanship, hear a Bible lesson and participate in one-on-one "Talk Time" with their mentor. The final outcome of this project was a 40-page book with photos and a commentary by Kerri, the founder. Below are some of the best photos from the project.

Feel free to visit my website to see samples of some of my other work from a variety of other projects!

I hope you've seen how much I desire to make a difference with the work that I do and I pray that you would consider partnering with me. I would love to hear from you! Feel free to leave a comment here or email me at: williss@jbu.edu.

Additionally, if you would like a copy of my full support letter, please let me know and I would be happy to send a copy your way!
Blessings,
Stephanie Willis
